چکیده
This paper explores the potential use of conductive alginate capsules encapsulating a bitumen rejuvenator as new extrinsic self-healing asphalt method. The combine two existing technologies: (1) encapsulation and (2) induction heating to create system that will provide rapid effective pavement repair. work presents proof concept for process, which involves embedding into mortar mixture survival rate in mixture. A drip capsule production process was adopted scaled up 20l wet at 0.22 l/min. To prove effectiveness its ability survive were prepared subjected thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) uniaxial compression Test (UCT). test results demonstrated had suitable thermal characteristics mechanical strength mixing compaction process. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) employed investigate physiological properties, such (oil) iron particle distribution, within capsules. electrical resistance tests proved capable conducting current. also tested their properties order determine whether they are distributing heat once heating. showed containing higher amounts (alginate/iron powder ratio 20:80 by weight) can efficiently conduct distribute heat. success an healing system, embedded mix. samples where then local damaging events, degree quantified. research findings indicate present promising approach development systems.

Robust molecular micro-capsules for encapsulating and releasing hydrophilic contents.
The hydrophobic-amphiphilic self-assembly approach has been employed to prepare molecular micro-capsules simply by cooling down an emulsion, in a hot polar solvent medium, of a melted compound having two very well-distinguished units, both with highly non-polar and hydrophobic characteristics. The resulting micro-capsules are very stable and robust both in suspension and under dry conditions. F...
متن کاملEvaluating and Modeling the Internal Diffusion Behaviors of Microencapsulated Rejuvenator in Aged Bitumen by FTIR-ATR Tests
Microencapsulated rejuvenator has been attracted much attention for self-healing bitumen. The diffusion coefficient is one of the key parameters to estimate the feasibility of rejuvenator to age bitumen. The objective of this research was to evaluate diffusion behaviors of microencapsulated rejuvenator in aged bitumen by a FTIR-ATR method. Various microcapsule samples were mixed in bitumen to f...
متن کاملEncapsulating a C++ Library
Encapsulation is the hiding of internal details from the user of an abstract data type, class or module. Encapsulating a class library requires more than combining a set of classes that are encapsulated individually. Libraries need to hide the details of how objects are created because some kinds of objects may be represented by composites as opposed to single instances. Implementation classes ...
متن کاملThe Human Bitumen Study
Recently, the Human Bitumen Study has been finished (Schlüter, 2011). Including 500 workers from more than 80 construction sites it represents the world-wide largest study on adverse health effects caused by bitumen. The study answers a question that has been controversially discussed since decades: Bitumen exposed workers do not show higher levels of DNA damage than unexposed individuals. On t...
متن کاملCooee bitumen: chemical aging.
We study chemical aging in "Cooee bitumen" using molecular dynamic simulations. This model bitumen is composed of four realistic molecule types: saturated hydrocarbon, resinous oil, resin, and asphaltene. The aging reaction is modelled by the chemical reaction: "2 resins → 1 asphaltene." Molecular dynamic simulations of four bitumen compositions, obtained by a repeated application of the aging ...
